![]() My friend Sarah Schumann is a professional small scale shellfisher in Rhode Island, and spends her summers working at a salmon cannery in Alaska. She started “Eating with the Ecosystem,” an educational effort, as a way to refocus conversations about sustainable seafood around local "seafood-sheds." Lecture-dinners are held at local restaurants to showcase sustainable seafood, prepared by wonderful chefs, to educate diners about local seafood resources and practices. In November, such a dinner was hosted at Tallulah On Thames, in Newport, Rhode Island. ![]() On Saturday, Nov 23, 2013, Appetito Foods proudly unveiled O2, the super fine organic extra virgin olive oil from Greece at the Mt. Hope Farmers' Market. This farmers' market was held at the historic Mt. Hope Farm, a preserved antique working farm in Bristol, Rhode island. This grand farm dates back to 1748! The winter market is actually held inside the renovated grand barn! It was here that shoppers tasted and discovered O2 Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil in New England for the first time! The response was positive! Shoppers delighted upon tasting O2's unique full spectrum olive flavor, with its "buttery" essence. Shoppers bought all the O2 that we brought to the market! Next time, we'll bring more! ![]() Indie Growers is well known for their beautiful edible flowers like these. Shoppers at this market enjoy fabulous produce, including these beautiful edible flowers from the Indie Growers. These gorgeous flower salad boxes were adorned with drizzles of O2 Organic EVOO and enjoyed by market "foodies.” ![]() Chef Joseph selecting edible flowers from the Indie Growers greenhouse (here, borage). |
